5 simple tricks to boost its computer

Your PC rowing? A computer too slow, it means two things: first it is not completely dead, or he does ramerait anymore and then you are, you and your computer, embedded in the same boat.

Except for Zen, it is painful to have to wait more than 5 minutes to boot Windows before the desktop does not deign to receive, or hear the wheezy rattle of hard disk when you launch more than two applications simultaneously .

In these moments, we imagine a computer language pending in the last hundred meters to a marathon. But instead of compassion and encouragement, we insult it gives him little taps that are anything but slapping encouragement.

Know that there are several ways to optimize computer performance and avoid the delays that many of you have endured, especially when the PC has already rolled his hump. Perhaps you already know these techniques but it is always worth repeating. I'm going to show you five very useful methods to help you keep your computer in top form. They are accessible to all and requires no software investment.

I - Accelerating Windows XP

This is the fastest way to improve overall performance and speed of your PC.

Procedure:

1 - Click on Start then Control Panel

2 - Double-click the System icon

3 - In the new window, click the Advanced tab and then click the Settings button in the Performance

4 - On the Visual Effects tab, click Adjust for best performance.

5 In the scrolling window, check only the buttons:

Use of shadows for the names of icons on the desktop

Use visual styles on windows and buttons

Your computer just to afford a rejuvenated!

II - Defragment the hard drive

If you find that your applications take much time to throw, then it is possible that your hard drive is highly fragmented. This means that the computer is forced to go digging information on a single application to different parts of the disc. And this inevitably slows down your applications. It must then defragment your disk using an application built into Windows.

There are also software specific but most are not paid and does much more.

Warning! This may take several hours, especially if you have never defragmented your computer before. The duration also depends on the size of your hard drive. In any event, it is better to start this function the night before going to bed or morning before work ...

Procedure:

1 - Click Start then All Programs then Accessories then System tools and then Disk Defragmenter.

2 - Click on the letter of your main drive (usually C:) then click the Analyze button. Windows will inform you whether or not useful to make a defragmentation.

During the operation does not run any other application.

III - Clean the Start Menu

It is also a good way to improve overall performance and especially the startup speed of your PC.

Procedure:

1 - Click on Start then Run.

2 - Type the command msconfig in the Run window and then click OK.

3 - In the new window, click the Startup tab (last tab on the right).

4 - Then in the Startup Items column, uncheck everything that relates to an application need not be run continuously (as is the case generally msn, quicktime, realplayer, winzip, nero, all updaters and toolbars etc..)

To know what is a line, check its location in the Command column. For example, if you find the location:

C: \ Program Files \ Adobe \ Acrobat 8.0 \ jusched.exe

then you know that the order for Adobe Reader, the PDF reader.

Generally, it should leave only the lines that correspond to an installed device (key-Fi, sound card, webcam etc..) Files and systems course.

In any event, the fact uncheck these lines do not remove the application, do not worry!

If you are unsure of a file, leave it checked, it may be a file system. You can always check by a Google search by typing its name. If this is not a system file, uncheck it without remorse.

Some propose to uncheck all and restart the computer. Then, based on any error messages, recheck the lines one by one to eliminate the error messages is a method that can be long, but if you are patient ...

5 - Click OK and Restart the computer

IV - Making a quick antispyware

Spyware, also known under the name of spyware are applications that land on your computer from certain websites or some software which can sometimes be as bad as a virus. The vast majority of them are harmless but others are able to steal your confidential information like passwords or credit card numbers!

Among the free software to help you protect yourself and get rid of, there is one that I particularly recommend: Spybot Search and Destroy.

V - Finally, clean your registry

The performance of your computer can be greatly improved if your registry is cleaned regularly. For over installations and uninstalls software, the registry often encumbered with useless information that weigh down gradually and consequently affect the performance of your computer.

Download a free software like CCleaner, very easy to use and will make your registry as clean as your bathroom ...

Note: before any manipulation of the registry, make a backup, for security reasons. In principle this software you offer.

That is, by following these tips, you just increase the speed of your computer very easily. In another section, we talk about free software that can effectively boost your PC, either in XP or Vista.
