Camcorder Reviews For Those of Us Who Just Want to Take Video of Our Kids

It is hard to believe, but there is still a strong contingent of the parent set who are not interested in plastering their kids' images up all over the internet. These folks simply want to take old-school type family videos of their kids in action on the soccer field or at the Little League Park. These camcorder reviews are designed with the home movie crowd in mind.

Cannon leads the way in the home video market with its Vixia line. The HF10 is relatively small, has fast focusing and excellent video quality, and feels comfortable in the hand. A slightly lower priced option is the HG20 model. Superb performance and video quality are both present in this slightly larger and a bit heavier camcorder. The 60 GB hard drive is also an attractive feature for many.

Panasonic is also a favorite in camcorder reviews. Its HS250 model is one of its smaller, at 2.9 inches in width by 2.7 inches high. It features an upward curve on the back of the camcorder that not only makes the zoom switch easy to reach, but provides for a comfortable hand feel overall. Some reviewers refer to this model as being one of Panasonic's "prosumer" products, a camera that works for amateurs and professionals alike.

An entry not a commonly found in camcorder reviews is JVC's Everio. This camera offers two HD format options and all controls are fully manual, no "virtual" buttons here. The video quality is excellent and this camcorder has 120GB hard drive nestled inside. Considering the size of the hard drive, the camcorder is still on the light side at 1.2 pounds. This is the first JVC camcorder rated to compete with Panasonic, Sony, and Cannon models.

For those of who want to record the significant moments in our families' lives, the holidays, birthday parties and school events, the previous camcorder reviews are a first step in helping select the camera that is right for you. Take your time, shop around, and find the model that will make your home movie making dreams come true.
